This is an opportunity to join a trusted care provider with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment. The kitchen plays an important role in residents' wellbeing, preparing fresh, nutritious meals that are enjoyed every day. You’ll typically prepare meals for around 30 residents, along with lunches for approximately 10 members of staff, allowing you to focus on quality, consistency and nutritional excellence rather than high-volume service. If you’re looking to step away from the pressures of restaurant service while continuing to cook fresh, homemade food that genuinely makes a difference, this could be the perfect role.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Lead Cook, you’ll be responsible for:
- Preparing and cooking nutritious, home-style meals to a consistently high standard
- Planning menus that cater for a variety of dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleaning and Health & Safety standards
- Managing stock rotation and food ordering
- Working alongside the Kitchen Assistant to ensure an efficient and organised kitchen
- Helping create a positive dining experience for residents every day
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Cook, Lead Cook or Chef
- Care home experience is desirable but not essential
- A good understanding of specialist diets, allergies and nutritional requirements
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A caring, reliable and positive attitude
- Pride in producing fresh, well-presented meals
- The ability to work independently while supporting the wider team
Most importantly, my client is looking for someone who understands the difference that good food can make to residents’ health, wellbeing and quality of life.
Hours
Full-time position 40 hours per week
Shifts between 8:00am and 6:00pm
