Job Purpose
- Costs recovery: To be responsible for drafting of Bills of Costs arising from proceedings within the Court of Protection and to prepare and submit claims for costs for assessment and payment. To ensure that the maximum costs are recovered within a timely manner for the Client and provide guidance and support to both clients and other members of staff in respect of costs issues. Advising clients with regard to the outcome of the assessment and whether or not an appeal should be pursued.
- Appeals: informal and formal appeals to the SCCO following receipt of assessed bill; dealing with drafting of all necessary documents and filing the same.
- Assessment assistance: drafting and preparing all documentation and filing via approved court portals; assisting in promptly sending client files, be that electronic or paper files.
- All matters: To deal with any advices, dealing with provisional assessment / detailed assessment hearings etc as necessary. All matters to be dealt with in accordance with The Civil Procedure Rules, any applicable Court of Protection Rules.
Responsibilities
- Meet Agreed Company Targets
- Undertake cradle to grave costs work in accordance with the agreed SLA to include:
- Preparing Bills of costs
- Drafting Statements of Costs (where required)
- Advising upon assessment parameters
- Preparing applications / appeals / any related documentation required
- Attending hearings if required
- Ensuring the quality of work is maintained to Service Level Agreements
- Deadlines are adhered to
