CanDo Laundry Services is looking for a reliable and customer-focused Delivery Driver to join our Telford team. This is a zero hours, casual role paying £13.25 per hour. The role is Monday to Friday, with weekend availability required when needed.

You will be responsible for completing delivery and collection routes using a Company 3.5T vehicle, loading and unloading laundry and linen, completing daily vehicle checks, maintaining accurate paperwork, and providing a professional service to our customers.

We are looking for someone with at least 1 year of delivery driving experience, a full UK driving licence suitable for 3.5T vehicles, good time management, strong attention to detail, and a positive, safety-conscious approach. Please note that this is a physically active driving role.

In addition to completing delivery and collection routes, you will regularly move clean and soiled linen using wheeled cages and hamper bags. Some customer sites may require cages to be pushed or pulled over a distance, or hamper bags to be carried up and down stairs. This role would suit someone who enjoys being active, is comfortable with manual handling, and takes pride in delivering a reliable and professional service to customers.

This is an on-site and mobile role based from Telford. Remote work is not available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily delivery and collection routes safely, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Drive Company 3.5T vehicles in line with road traffic laws, Company procedures, and safe driving standards.
  • Follow planned routes and communicate any delays, access issues, or route problems promptly.
  • Use sat nav, smartphone applications, and route information appropriately.
  • Ensure deliveries and collections are completed accurately and on time wherever possible.

Loading, Unloading and Yard Support:

  • Load and unload laundry, linen, garments, cages, bags, and other items safely.
  • Check that the correct items are loaded for each customer or route.
  • Support the transport and production teams with dispatch preparation where required.
  • Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe dispatch area, yard, and vehicle loading area.
  • Handle customer items carefully to avoid damage, loss, or contamination.

Vehicle Checks and Compliance:

  • Complete daily vehicle checks before using the vehicle.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, roadworthy, and presentable.
  • Ensure vehicle paperwork, delivery documentation, and defect reports are completed accurately.
  • Follow Company procedures for fuel, parking, security, keys, and vehicle use.

Customer Service:

  • Provide a professional, friendly, and helpful service at every delivery and collection.
  • Represent CanDo Laundry Services positively when visiting customer sites.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding deliveries, collections, or service issues.
  • Escalate customer queries, complaints, or concerns to the appropriate manager or department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with customer information or site requirements.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with the Transport Supervisor, production teams, and office teams.
  • Provide updates on route progress, delays, failed collections, customer issues, or vehicle concerns.
  • Follow instructions from managers and supervisors.
  • Work flexibly to support business needs, including weekend availability when required.

Health, Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Use manual handling techniques when lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading.
  • Report hazards, near misses, accidents, equipment faults, or unsafe working practices promptly.
  • Follow Company policies relating to conduct, driving standards, customer service, data protection, and vehicle use.

Person Specification:

  • Full UK driving licence suitable for driving 3.5T vehicles.
  • Minimum 1 year of delivery driving experience.
  • Able to work from the Telford site.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with regular manual handling, including pushing and pulling wheeled linen cages weighing up to 100kg when full.
  • Able to carry hamper bags weighing up to 10kg, including up and down stairs and multiple times where required.
  • Comfortable working across customer sites where parking, access, and delivery arrangements may vary.
  • Safety conscious and able to follow safe manual handling practices throughout the working day.
  • Good understanding of sat nav and smartphone applications.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and willing to support weekend work when required.
  • Previous experience driving for a laundry, linen, logistics, courier, hospitality, healthcare, or facilities service.

  • Previous experience working with cages, sacks, linen, garments, or commercial delivery loads.
  • Knowledge of routes across the local area and surrounding regions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced transport or service environment.
