Day Security Officer

The Day Security Officer provides the mobile, patrol-led security presence at Dickens Yard. This is not a desk-based role: the postholder will generally spend around 45 minutes of each hour patrolling or otherwise on their feet across the Square and wider estate. The role requires a high level of physical fitness and stamina. Duties include scheduled patrols, parking and access-control checks, incident response and documented safety and security checks. The postholder must identify and record concerns, take proportionate action within their authority and ensure matters are escalated and progressed, working alongside the Concierge and Head Concierge to protect resident service.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Visible Estate Patrols - Complete hourly external patrols of the Square, walkways, entrances and public-facing areas, maintaining a visible presence and responding proportionately to anti-social behaviour, unauthorised activity and cycle or scooter misuse.
• Building, Fire and Safety Checks - Complete at least one documented building and fire-safety walk per shift covering floors, communal areas, car parks and scheduled locations; identify and escalate hazards, defects or security concerns.
• Car Parks and Parking Enforcement - Patrol the car parks, including CP2, and self-ticket misuse of disabled bays, EV charging bays and other restricted areas through the approved process; identify obstructions, damage, suspicious activity and parking breaches and retain evidence.
• Loading Bay, Bollards and Vehicle Access - Provide regular loading-bay oversight, manage unauthorised or extended parking and obstruction, and check bollards, locks and vehicle-access arrangements for misuse, damage or faults.
• Doors, Access Control and Security Defects - Check external and communal doors, locks and access-control systems regularly; identify unsecured doors, defective closers, access faults or maintenance issues and ensure they are recorded, escalated and progressed.
• Parcel Room and Estate Support - Once operational, check the proposed Belgravia House parcel room regularly, keep parcels organised, identify aged or uncollected items and support secure and orderly operation in line with site procedures.
• Incident, ASB and Emergency Response - Provide a calm and proportionate first response to security incidents, anti-social behaviour, aggressive persons, welfare concerns, accidents and fire alarms; prioritise life safety, use de-escalation and contact management or emergency services when required.
• Records, Follow-up and Teamwork - Maintain accurate patrol records, photographs where appropriate, incident reports, parking evidence and handovers; follow issues through to appropriate action or escalation and work closely with the Head Concierge, Concierge, Estate Management and contractors. Support the desk when operationally required without allowing the role to become desk based.

Role Requirements

• Experience - Previous experience in security, residential estate operations, mixed-use property or another customer-facing operational environment involving patrols, incident response and accurate reporting.
• SIA Licensing - A current SIA licence appropriate to the role, normally Security Guarding or Door Supervisor, and any additional licence required for assigned CCTV or other licensable duties.
• Communication and Report Writing - A good standard of written and spoken English, sound numeracy and the ability to communicate professionally and produce clear, factual and timely records.
• Customer Service and De-escalation - A resident-focused approach with the confidence to challenge inappropriate behaviour calmly and fairly, de-escalate difficult situations and avoid unnecessary confrontation.
• IT and Systems - Highly IT literate, with a high level of competence in Outlook, Excel and Word. Able to use patrol, parking-enforcement and reporting apps and authorised CCTV, access-control and fire-safety interfaces.
• Safety and Judgement - Able to assess risk, follow procedures, remain calm under pressure, recognise the limits of the role and escalate when necessary.
• Integrity and Reliability - High standards of discretion, honesty, punctuality, professional conduct, attention to detail and record accuracy.
• Patrol-Led and Physical Working - A high level of physical fitness and stamina is required. This is not a desk-based role and generally involves around 45 minutes of each hour patrolling or otherwise on foot, including repeated walking patrols, stairs, extended standing and outdoor duties in varying weather conditions.
• Eligibility - The right to work in the UK and the ability to meet the organisation's screening, reference, licensing and other pre-employment requirements.
• Desirable experience - Previous service in the Armed Forces, police or emergency services, or experience within luxury residential security, estate operations or another disciplined environment requiring vigilance and incident response.
