About the Role
My client is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Café Cook to join their friendly team at a busy, community-focused café in Nuffield. The café forms part of a welcoming creative and community venue, serving high-quality, freshly prepared food to visitors throughout the week. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys producing simple, freshly cooked meals in a relaxed and supportive environment. This is a daytime-only position with shifts from 8:00am to 4:00pm, making it ideal for someone looking for an excellent work-life balance.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be preparing and serving a variety of freshly cooked breakfast and lunch dishes, including:
- Full English breakfasts
- Sausage brioche rolls
- Toasted sandwiches and paninis
You'll also be responsible for:
- Food preparation and cooking
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Stock rotation and ingredient management
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Working efficiently during busy breakfast and lunch services
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a café, kitchen or catering environment
- The ability to work independently during busy service periods
- A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- A reliable, positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to work well as part of a small, friendly team
This role is best suited to an experienced café or kitchen cook. My client is not looking for a Head Chef; they're looking for someone who enjoys preparing great-quality café food in a welcoming environment.
Hours
Shifts are 8:00am to 4:00pm (8 hours). 7 Days a week operation. All team members are required to work at least one weekend day. The number of shifts and working days will be agreed with the successful candidate. Full-time and part-time applications are welcome.
Pay
From £12.71 per hour, depending on experience. Experienced café cooks typically earn around £13.00 per hour, with higher rates considered for candidates who bring additional relevant experience.
