Outline of role

We are seeking a driven andexperienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our established team in responseto a significant increase in workload.

The role will involve delivering a rangeof mechanical projects, predominantly within the commercial retail sector.

You will take ownership ofprojects from conception through to completion, ensuring delivery to thehighest standards, on time, and within budget.

Many of our schemes are carriedout in live, operational environments, so the ability to work efficiently whileminimising disruption is key.

Experience in fast-track asset replacementprogrammes within live retail or commercial settings is highly desirable, although not essential.

Main responsibilities

You will need to be able to runand deliver exceptional projects to a high standard with a varying ofmechanical trades:

  • Deliveringmechanical projects of varying scale and complexity to agreed deadlines, specifications and budgets, including energy‑efficiency and decarbonisationworks.
  • Applyingstrong mechanical engineering knowledge to problem‑solving and decision‑makingon site.
  • Attendingand managing all on‑site project phases, overseeing daily operations andensuring quality standards are consistently met.
  • Participatingin design team meetings, providing technical input with a focus onbuildability, energy performance and lifecycle value.
  • Conductingsite surveys to support project planning and identify opportunities for plantoptimisation and carbon reduction.
  • Monitoring KPIs weekly to ensure contractual, commercial, and operational targets areachieved.
  • Maintainingstrict Health & Safety compliance in line with legislation, companypolicies and site‑specific requirements.
  • Proactivelymanaging project profitability, achieving or exceeding target margins andidentifying cost and energy efficiencies.
  • Producingaccurate and timely Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Driving a“right first time” quality culture, working towards defect‑free, complianthandovers.
  • Championinginnovation by exploring improved processes, construction methodologies and low‑carbonmechanical solutions to maintain competitive advantage and support clientsustainability goals.
  • Knowledge and experiencerequired
  • SMSTScertification (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • Provenexperience delivering mechanical projects within commercial, retail or relatedsectors.
  • Anunderstanding of energy‑efficient building services and modern mechanicalplant, with exposure to decarbonisation projects beneficial.
  • Strongproject management skills, including planning, budgeting and resourceallocation.
  • Ability tomanage multiple projects simultaneously with close attention to detail.
  • Strongleadership and communication skills to effectively engage clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

  • Relevantqualification in Building Services or HVAC Engineering (HNC, HND, Degree, orequivalent)
