With increasing attention on the challenges graduates face when trying to secure relevant career opportunities, we're keen to create a genuine stepping stone into the marketing profession. We're looking for a creative and enthusiastic person to join our marketing team at Tong Garden Centre until the end of 2026. This is an opportunity to gain real, hands‑on experience across social media, content creation and wider marketing activity, working alongside an experienced, driven and passionate team across all seven Yorkshire Garden Centres.
Unlike many entry‑level roles, you'll have the chance to get involved from day one. You'll help create content, support campaigns, capture photography and video, contribute ideas and see first‑hand how marketing supports a multi‑site retail, catering and events business. You'll be joining us during our busiest and most exciting time of year, with Christmas campaigns, events, product launches and seasonal activity providing plenty of opportunities to learn, develop and build practical experience for your future career.
The role is ideal for someone who loves social media, enjoys creating content and wants to develop their marketing skills in a busy, creative environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Creating engaging content for our social media channels, including Reels, Stories, short‑form video and photography
- Coming up with fresh and creative ideas for social media and marketing content
- Creating social graphics and other digital content using design tools such as Canva or Adobe
- Supporting the creation of email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, promotions and customer communications
- Capturing content across our garden centres, including products, displays, restaurants, events and seasonal activity
- Supporting marketing campaigns across retail, catering and events
- Helping to promote new products, seasonal launches, offers, events and experiences
- Keeping our social media channels fresh, relevant and engaging
- Working with the wider marketing team to bring campaigns and ideas to life
- Monitoring social media performance and helping to identify what content is working well
- Supporting the marketing team with other projects and activities as required
About you:
- At the start of their marketing or creative career, with a relevant qualification or degree
- Social media savvy, with a good understanding of platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Creative, full of ideas and has a good eye for design
- Confident creating content and editing short‑form video
- Comfortable using design tools such as Canva, Adobe or similar
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Proactive, enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in
- Confident working independently but also as part of a team
The role:
You’ll be based at Tong Garden Centre, working closely with the Group Marketing Manager and wider marketing team. As our centres are spread across Yorkshire, there will be some travel to our other garden centres to capture content and support marketing activity, so you’ll need to be comfortable travelling between locations. This is a hands‑on role, so no two days will be the same. One day you could be creating a Reel around a new product, the next capturing Christmas content, designing social graphics or supporting a campaign across our centres.
Working hours will mostly be 9‑5, Monday to Friday, with some commitment to work occasional evenings and weekends to support our festive events and get stuck in with our team during our most thriving Christmas trading days. This temporary opportunity runs until the end of 2026. You’ll get the opportunity to gain real‑world marketing experience in a busy and creative environment, working on campaigns that reach a large customer audience across seven garden centres. And with Christmas being one of our busiest periods, you’ll be right in the middle of Christmas launches, events, displays, products, food and plenty of exciting content opportunities!
We are an independently owned business committed to our vision: to deliver great experiences for all the family. Through retail, food and play offerings in each of our retail destinations, we believe we have created a unique mix of brands that always deliver great experiences for families across multiple sites in Yorkshire.
