Role Purpose:
The operations Recycling Operative role is to work within the grinding room and ensure the safe and timely processing of all waste and scrap material from the production machine, in order for waste to be ground down for further use.
Key Responsibilities:
- To operate the grinding machines in line with Standard Operating Procedures and safe systems of work.
- Record accurate information of granulate being loaded into the machine.
- Ensure that materials are kept separate in order to make certain that no contamination takes place.
- Operate a forklift truck to move product between departments where necessary.
- To record material issues and usages in accordance with Company procedures, reporting issues to a manager where appropriate.
- Uphold the “clean as you go” system of work to provide good housekeeping, hygiene, and health and safety requirements at all times.
- To ensure that all documents required by the hygiene and quality management systems are completed in full, in relation to the work being carried out.
- To comply with all Health & Safety regulations and work within the Company’s safe working practices.
- Undertake such other duties that are deemed reasonable and commensurate with the role according to business needs.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Training Required:
- GCSE English and Maths C or above or equivalent is essential
- Forklift licence, or equivalent experience is essential
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience of working in a high-volume manufacturing, fresh produce environment is desirable.
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with others in a team is essential.
- Ability to move rolls of skeletal plastic weighing up to 20kg repetitively is essential.
- Good understanding of H & S procedures within a warehousing environment and the importance of following them is essential.
- Positive working attitude when working alone or within a team is essential.
