The Role

Join a dynamic team as a Mental Health Nurse specializing in Neurodevelopmental Assessments. This rewarding role focuses on delivering critical diagnostic assessments for children referred via NHS Patient Choice and GP pathways for suspected autism and/or ADHD. Part of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team, you’ll support families and individuals in a busy, impactful service. This flexible position offers hybrid or remote working options, with vacancies available across UK sites. Hybrid roles require travel to their office in Harrogate. Opportunities span various experience levels, including senior roles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting specialist neurodevelopmental assessments for autism and/or ADHD using established diagnostic tools.
  • Drawing on your mental health expertise to assess co-occurring conditions where relevant.
  • Preparing timely, professional reports with tailored recommendations and interventions.
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to ensure outstanding care.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff (depending on experience).

Assessments are primarily NHS-funded via GP referrals, with some tasks manageable remotely, offering flexibility and balance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with NMC (HCPC/GMC registration also considered).
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Proven experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental assessments with children and young people.
  • Clinical background supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties.
  • Strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate autism/ADHD assessment tools.
  • Proficiency in differential diagnosis.
  • Ideally trained in ADOS-2 and/or ADI-R.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for detailed report writing and record-keeping.
  • A collaborative team player, comfortable in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Additional qualifications in autism, ADHD, or related fields are highly valued.
  • Experience or interest in providing clinical supervision (integral to senior roles).
