Position: Occupational Therapist – Neurodevelopmental Assessments.

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time and Part-Time Available).

Working Pattern: Clinic-Based / Hybrid (Minimum 1-2 days in office).

Salary: £30,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

Role Overview: We are seeking Occupational Therapists for full-time and part-time roles within our client's Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team based in Huddersfield. This is an exciting and valuable clinic-based/hybrid position (minimum 1-2 days in office) for suitably qualified clinicians working with children and young people referred for autism and/or ADHD assessments via NHS Patient Choice and GP pathways. The role requires conducting comprehensive specialist assessments including diagnostic assessments of individuals with suspected autism and/or ADHD using established diagnostic tools. You will conduct developmental history interviews, participate in MDT diagnostic discussions, and deliver clear, compassionate feedback to families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting face-to-face structured observations as part of the neurodevelopmental assessment process.
• Conducting remote developmental history interviews with parents and carers via Zoom.
• Participating collaboratively in peer MDT diagnostic discussions, supported by senior clinicians where needed.
• Delivering clear, compassionate feedback to families.
• Producing accurate clinical reports, including diagnostic formulations, with the help of smart tools.
• Writing assessment reports in a timely and professional manner with appropriate recommendations and interventions.
• Working efficiently to meet service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Delivering clinical supervision to junior staff members (where applicable).
• Attending the Huddersfield clinic base for in-person assessments (minimum 1-2 days per week).

Essential Requirements:

• HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
• Minimum of 1 year experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental/specialist developmental assessments with children and young people OR adults.
• Experience with assessment tools for autism and/or ADHD.
• Must have worked within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) conducting assessments - NOT worked alone.
• Willing to conduct assessments for BOTH autism AND ADHD.
• Willing to be trained in either area if lacking experience in one.
• Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for autism and ADHD.
• Knowledge of differential diagnosis in neurodevelopmental presentations.
• Experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties in a clinical setting.
• Effective time management and caseload organisation skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in report writing and record keeping.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Highly Desirable:

• Trained and experienced in the use of ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
• Additional qualifications in relevant areas of autism and/or ADHD.
