An opportunity is available for an Assistant Service Manager to help lead a service where individuals are supported to live the life they want to live. This role focuses on maintaining a safe and enabling environment while ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory guidance, good practice, and relevant legislation.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to assist with the management and leadership of the service, reflecting a mission of brighter futures and better lives. You will remain ready and willing to act on behalf of the Service Manager when they are unavailable. In CQC registered locations, you will understand Registered Manager responsibilities to ensure legal requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership Support: Manage and lead the service alongside the Service Manager.
- People Support: Work with families and multi-disciplinary teams to reduce health inequalities and achieve the best possible measurable outcomes for the people supported.
- Financial Management: Participate in the budget-setting process and monitor financial performance via monthly accounts.
- Operational Efficiency: Manage labor costs through effective rostering and minimizing agency use.
- Performance Management: Proactively identify and resolve staff performance or behavior that falls below organizational standards.
- Compliance: Ensure all training within the service is fully compliant and that statutory requirements, such as Health and Safety and CQC, are met.
- Culture: Demonstrate practice leadership to ensure a positive and open culture where continuous improvement is evident.
Person Specification
Experience
- Essential: Experience in leading a team.
- Essential: Experience working with vulnerable people, such as those with learning disabilities, autism, or an acquired brain injury.
- Desirable: Experience managing budgets, financial information, and setting objectives.
Knowledge & Skills
- Essential: Knowledge of sector regulatory bodies and legislation.
- Essential: Proficient IT skills, including Office 365 Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Essential: Effective communication at all levels and the ability to manage oneself.
- Desirable: Holder of an L4 RQF Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
Specialist Requirements
- PBS Priority Services: Experience with behaviours that challenge and a BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support are essential.
- PMLD Priority Services: Experience with profound and multiple learning disabilities is desirable, alongside a Level 3 Diploma in PMLD (or willingness to work towards).
Additional Requirements
- A full UK driving license with access to a vehicle is highly desirable and may be essential for this Margate location.
