A well-established and highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its growing Court of Protection team. This role offers flexibility on location, with the opportunity to work from any of the firm’s offices within the region.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in Court of Protection matters and a strong interest in this area of law. You will manage a varied caseload, providing high-quality legal services while delivering excellent client care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Opening new files and managing initial enquiries
- Drafting and submitting deputyship applications, liaising directly with the Court of Protection
- Preparing and sending routine correspondence
- Visiting clients and liaising with deputies, attorneys, or representatives as appropriate
- Liaising with care homes, family members, and professionals such as social workers
- Managing clients’ property and financial affairs, including processing bank statements and maintaining accurate financial records
- Keeping schedules and spreadsheets updated
- Assisting with annual reports and maintaining registers
Some travel will be required, so a full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use insurance is essential.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Providing an ongoing service to existing clients
- Supporting colleagues in generating new business and maximising cross-referral opportunities
- Meeting agreed fee income targets and objectives
- Staying up to date with developments in relevant law and practice
- Managing financial aspects of files, including billing and cash flow
- Recording time accurately and ensuring compliance with quality and risk management procedures
About You
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive
- Fully IT literate with strong word processing skills
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work to tight deadlines
- Professional telephone manner and strong client care skills
Desirable:
- Experience in private client work
- Knowledge of SOS Connect case management software
