We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisors based in Cheltenham. The firm advises a broad client base including entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals, and is known for delivering pragmatic, high-quality personal tax advice. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Personal Tax Manager or Personal Tax Assistant Manager to join their collaborative and supportive tax team.
This is a highly regarded practice with a strong reputation for tailored advisory work and long-standing client relationships. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and have exposure to a varied and interesting personal tax portfolio, including advisory-focused work and more complex compliance matters. There is genuine scope for progression, with opportunities to mentor junior team members, contribute to team development, and become involved in business development and networking initiatives.
This role offers an excellent balance of technical challenge and flexibility. The firm operates a hybrid working model, with flexibility around office and home working, supporting a healthy work-life balance while maintaining high client service standards.
Responsibilities
- Managing and reviewing personal tax compliance for a diverse client portfolio
- Running tax returns, managing the tax team and handling MTD (Making Tax Digital)
- Providing advice on personal tax matters, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
- Advising on tax issues relating to residents, including partners living overseas
- Supporting and overseeing compliance processes, ensuring accuracy and quality
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and assisting with advisory projects
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Working closely with Directors on technical and strategic tax matters
The firm deals with a high volume of resident-related work, so experience in this area would be ideal, but is not essential.
About you
- Proven experience in personal tax within a professional practice environment
- CTA and/or ATT qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax and compliance
- Experience with CGT and resident-related tax matters is advantageous
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
- Organised, proactive and comfortable managing deadlines
- A collaborative team player keen to grow with the firm
