Job Summary
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced clinician to step into a Team Leader role at a new neurodevelopmental assessment clinic in Gosforth, Newcastle. Main Duties of the Job
- Oversee the daily operations of the Gosforth clinic, managing a diverse team of professionals conducting specialist assessments for Autism and ADHD.
- Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day clinic operations.
- Conduct and supervise diagnostic assessments for individuals suspected of Autism and/or ADHD using tools such as ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
- Produce timely, professional assessment reports with clear recommendations and interventions.
- Maintain clinical oversight of all active cases, ensuring structured case management and clear plans to prevent delays.
- Work with administrative staff to manage logistics, such as case bookings, to ensure fair workload distribution and avoid overbooking.
- Resolve operational challenges, such as staff absences or case reallocations.
- Support new team members with onboarding, skill development, and integration.
- Identify inefficiencies in clinic processes, create new resources, and collaborate with senior leadership to drive improvements.
- Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions to support effective case management and decision-making.
- Identify training needs for the team and individuals, escalating these to senior leadership.
- Escalate and resolve operational or clinical issues with senior management.
- Participate in leadership meetings and organizational events to contribute to strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Conducting and overseeing diagnostic assessments for Autism and ADHD using established tools, with occasional mental health assessments as needed.
- Writing professional, timely assessment reports with actionable recommendations.
- Supervising a team of psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, paediatric specialists, and support staff.
- Ensuring robust clinical governance, with oversight of all active cases to maintain clear direction and efficient case management.
- Managing daily clinic operations, addressing logistical challenges, and ensuring equitable workload distribution.
- Mentoring junior staff during onboarding and supporting their ongoing skill development.
- Identifying and addressing clinic process inefficiencies, developing resources, and working with senior leadership to implement improvements.
- Chairing MDT discussions to foster collaborative decision-making.
- Monitoring contract implementation, service delivery, and performance metrics.
- Escalating issues to senior management and contributing to organizational strategies through leadership meetings.
- Identifying team and individual training needs and collaborating with senior leadership to address them.
Qualifications
Essential:
- HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or NMC-registered Nurse, or Neurodevelopmental Practitioner with specialist training.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental/specialist developmental assessments for children and/or adults.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate assessment tools for Autism and ADHD.
- Knowledge of differential diagnosis.
- ADOS-2/ADI-R trained.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in team and service management.
- Strong report-writing and record-keeping skills.
Desirable:
- QB-trained.
- Additional qualifications in relevant areas of Autism and/or ADHD.
