RGE Group is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of passive fire protection works across Bristol as part of the Bristol City Council Fire Compartmentation Framework. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Passive Fire Site Manager, Firestopping Site Manager, or Construction Site Manager with knowledge of fire compartmentation, firestopping, and social housing refurbishment projects.
As Site Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, to the highest quality standards, and fully evidenced for client sign-off and commercial valuation. Delivering the work is only half of the role. The other half is ensuring every completed installation is fully compliant, correctly documented, and ready for client approval. While some routine administration may be delegated to the Site Supervisor or office support, accountability always remains with the Site Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of passive fire protection works across multiple live sites.
- Plan labour and allocate operatives across gangs, properties and work areas.
- Set daily priorities and ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
- Lead, support and develop the Site Supervisor as your deputy.
- Supervise operatives and subcontractors, driving productivity and quality.
- Coordinate access, materials, plant, scaffolding and site logistics.
- Resolve site issues quickly and escalate risks to the Contracts Manager where required.
- Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery plans where necessary.
- Build a positive, high-performing team culture focused on quality, accountability and customer service.
Passive Fire Protection & Quality
- Ensure all firestopping and compartmentation works comply with project specifications, manufacturer installation guidance, passive fire industry standards, and Bristol City Council requirements.
- Inspect completed works before sign-off.
- Reject non-compliant work and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Ensure every completed installation is fully evidenced with photographic records, Boris reports, completion notes, and supporting documentation.
- Minimise defects, rework and return visits through effective quality management.
Compliance, Administration & Reporting
- Routine administrative tasks may be delegated; accountability remains with the Site Manager.
- Ensure Completion Tracker is accurate and up to date for every property, plot and loft.
- Verify Boris reports against site records.
- Update Client SharePoint promptly to support client visibility and commercial valuation.
- Ensure daily records, labour returns and site documentation remain accurate.
- Regularly audit delegated administration for accuracy and completeness.
Health, Safety & Welfare
- Ensure RAMS and the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) are in place, communicated and signed before work starts.
- Enforce safe systems of work across all sites.
- Manage PPE compliance, working at height, scaffolding, permits, asbestos controls and site-specific risks.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety conversations.
- Record and investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Stop work immediately where safety or quality standards are compromised.
- Ensure adequate welfare facilities are maintained.
- Deliver or arrange weekly toolbox talks.
Materials, Logistics & Waste
- Coordinate deliveries of materials and plant.
- Arrange waste management, including general and asbestos waste disposal.
- Organise skip deliveries, exchanges and collections.
- Ensure logistics support programme delivery.
Commercial Responsibilities
- Verify measured quantities for payment applications.
- Ensure completed works are fully evidenced to support valuation.
- Minimise rework and wasted labour.
- Identify variations and additional works.
- Protect project profitability through effective planning and resource management.
