The Role

Working as part of the Building Services team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems across a variety of projects from concept through to completion.

Responsibilities include:

  • Producing mechanical building services designs including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water and public health systems
  • Preparing design calculations, technical reports and specifications
  • Developing coordinated designs using Revit, CAD and mechanical design software
  • Assisting with compliance against current Building Regulations and relevant industry standards
  • Carrying out site surveys, inspections, condition reports and witnessing activities
  • Attending design meetings and providing technical input throughout project delivery
  • Coordinating designs with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers and external consultants
  • Supporting multidisciplinary project delivery from feasibility through to construction
  • Working closely with senior engineers to develop technical knowledge and professional competence
  • Contributing to the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience within Mechanical Building Services Design
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Good understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience producing mechanical calculations, reports and specifications
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary design team
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)

Desirable experience includes:

  • Revit MEP experience
  • Experience using mechanical design and calculation software such as Hevacomp, IES, CyMap or similar
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and British Standards
  • Experience carrying out site surveys and inspections
  • Working towards or already holding EngTech, IEng or CEng status
