We’re working with a well-established electrical contractor known for delivering high-quality, large-scale electrical and sustainable infrastructure projects across the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. They’re now looking to bring on an experienced Electrical Estimator who can confidently lead the estimating process from end to end — helping the business secure profitable work through precise costing and strong commercial insight.
The Role: This is a key position responsible for overseeing electrical estimating for projects ranging from £100K to £8M. You’ll be involved in everything from interpreting designs and developing cost plans to supporting tender submissions and client meetings.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Produce accurate cost estimates for electrical installations
- Interpret drawings and specifications for precise material take-offs
- Develop competitive cost plans for design & build and two-stage tenders
- Issue enquiries to suppliers/subcontractors and analyse quotations
- Attend client meetings during the pre, mid, and post-tender phases
- Price prelims and labour and support tender adjudications
- Present estimates during internal handovers, detailing inclusions/exclusions
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for someone with a strong background in electrical estimating within the building services or construction industry — someone who’s commercially sharp and technically confident.
Must-Have:
- Experience as an Electrical Estimator across relevant sectors
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and complete take-offs
- Electrical qualification (HNC/HND minimum); 18th Edition preferred
- Proficient in Excel and familiar with ISO 9001 quality standards
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Amtech, Relux, Bluebeam, or Trimble Contract Master
- Knowledge of AutoCAD for basic drawing reviews
- Exposure to solar system estimating or sustainable technologies
