A global engineering and infrastructure consultancy is strengthening its Electrical Building Services capability across Exeter and Plymouth, supporting delivery of complex, high-value and technically demanding projects. The role sits within a building services team, delivering large-scale infrastructure schemes across defence, transport, healthcare, justice, commercial and public sector environments. A significant proportion of workload is within secure defence and critical national infrastructure, requiring robust technical leadership and design assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical building services design across all RIBA stages (0–7)
- Act as technical lead for LV systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, life safety systems, standby power and UPS systems
- Produce, review and approve electrical design deliverables including calculations, specifications and drawings
- Provide technical governance and ensure compliance with UK regulations, CIBSE guidance and internal standards
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams across complex projects
- Attend and lead client, stakeholder and design team meetings
- Support project delivery across secure and defence environments where applicable
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers
- Contribute to digital design, BIM coordination and technical innovation
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Significant consultancy experience in building services design
- Proven ability to deliver complex UK construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems design and coordination
- Chartered Engineer or working towards (required for Principal level)
- Experience in defence, secure estates or critical infrastructure advantageous
- Strong Revit / BIM capability beneficial
