Building Physics Engineer / Sustainability Consultant required to join an established Building Physics & Building Performance Engineering team within a UK-based multidisciplinary engineering and sustainability consultancy with multiple offices nationwide. This role focuses on building performance modelling, operational energy analysis, and sustainable design, supporting low-energy, low-carbon developments across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to dynamic simulation modelling, overheating analysis, daylight assessments, and Net Zero Carbon strategies, working closely with architects, MEP engineers, and design teams from early-stage concept through to detailed design and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic thermal modelling (IES VE) to assess building energy performance, overheating risk, and operational efficiency.
- Complete building compliance and performance assessments, including:
- Building Regulations Part L and Part O
- CIBSE TM52, TM59 (overheating) and TM54 (operational energy)
- EPC calculations and NABERS UK
- Passive House (where applicable)
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics).
- 2-4 years’ experience in building physics or sustainability consultancy.
- Strong capability in IES VE and dynamic simulation modelling.
- Solid understanding of:
- Building Regulations Part L and Part O
- CIBSE TM52, TM59, TM54
- BREEAM and NABERS UK
- UK Net Zero Carbon frameworks.
Desirable:
- Rhino.
- Python or scripting experience.
- Revit or AutoCAD.
- Chartered status (or working towards) with CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent.
- Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
