About the Role

We’re looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary building services team working on a variety of projects across residential, commercial, education, cultural and industrial sectors. You’ll be involved in mechanical design, energy modelling and technical coordination from concept through to detailed design and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems across project types, including calculations, specifications and schedules.
  • Produce mechanical engineering drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Carry out energy modelling and compliance analysis (e.g., Part L, TM54, overheating assessments) ideally using IES.
  • Undertake SAP and other performance assessments on building services systems.
  • Support coordination of mechanical design with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines.
  • Assist with site surveys, reports on existing systems and technical support during construction.
  • Collaborate with clients, design teams, contractors and suppliers to deliver technically sound solutions.
  • Ensure deliverables meet relevant standards, specifications and QA processes.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent building services engineering qualification.
  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical/building services design, including HVAC systems.
  • Experience with energy modelling software such as IES (preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD tools; Revit experience advantageous.
  • Understanding of UK building performance regulations and compliance processes.
  • Strong technical communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
