We are looking for a Lead Grounds Operative to join our Estates team, delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services across our communities within the social housing sector.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you’ll lead by example, ensuring our estates are safe, clean and well-maintained. You’ll play a key part in creating attractive outdoor spaces for residents while upholding high standards of health and safety.
- Lead grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding and shrub care.
- Operate and maintain horticultural machinery safely (mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers).
- Carry out inspections of communal areas, reporting defects, fly-tipping and safety concerns.
- Support seasonal duties such as gritting and emergency estate work.
- Lead higher-risk tasks such as weed spraying and specialist equipment use.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance with basic horticultural knowledge.
- Qualified in Horticulture Level 1 and PA1 & PA6 (pesticide use).
- Experience using horticultural tools and machinery safely.
- Good level of physical fitness and ability to work outdoors year-round.
- Basic IT skills (training provided).
- Full UK manual driving licence.
