Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: Newton Abbot, South Devon Contract: Permanent | Full-time Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to take the next step in your career? We\’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established contractor delivering a major public sector project in South Devon – and this could be the opportunity you\’ve been looking for. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a professional and supportive commercial team working on a large-scale Government construction scheme. As part of the team, you\’ll play a key part in delivering essential infrastructure that will benefit the local area for years to come. Whether you\’re an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor or recently stepping into the role, you\’ll gain hands-on exposure to all stages of the commercial process – from subcontractor procurement to cost control and cashflow forecasting. What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor: Supporting the Commercial and Procurement teams with subcontractor packages and contract documentation. Assisting in the preparation and coordination of procurement documentation and processes. Contributing to pricing, cost management, and margin control in line with project targets. Helping monitor and manage cashflows to ensure smooth financial performance of the project. Collaborating with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider team to ensure commercial objectives are met. What we’re looking for in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor: Experience in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably on medium to large-scale projects. Strong knowledge of contract administration and payment compliance processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial management tools. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills – essential qualities for a successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
