A well-established, medium-sized civil engineering contractor based in Somerset is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support its growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Assistant QS who is keen to develop their career within a supportive business delivering a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South West.
The Role:
- Working closely with the Commercial Manager and senior QS team, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with cost control and financial reporting on live projects
- Supporting the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement, including enquiries and comparisons
- Helping manage subcontractor accounts and variations
- Supporting tender preparation and cost planning where required
- Working collaboratively with site teams to ensure commercial best practice
About You:
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within civil engineering or construction
- Degree-qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach
- Eager to learn, develop, and progress within a growing contractor
