A well-established and growing Building Services Consultancy is seeking a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to take a leading role in project delivery, client management and team development within a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will lead electrical design projects across a diverse portfolio including Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Leisure, Industrial and Infrastructure sectors. The Role
- Lead the electrical design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce and review electrical calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
- Design electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, standby generation and UPS installations.
- Undertake electrical load assessments and system sizing calculations.
- Ensure compliance with current regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
- Manage project programmes, budgets and design deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Attend and lead design, client and project meetings.
- Undertake feasibility studies and site surveys.
- Review and approve engineering designs and technical submissions.
- Manage CDM risks and contribute to design risk assessments.
- Support bid submissions, fee proposals and project cost estimates.
- Provide technical leadership across projects.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
- Promote innovative, sustainable and low-carbon design solutions.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Essential
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering electrical building services designs within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical building services systems and design principles.
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of RIBA work stages and project delivery processes.
- Understanding of CDM regulations and design risk management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Professional Memberships
- Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIBSE or IET.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or actively working towards professional registration.
