Engineering Team Leader - Specialising in Civil Engineering

Watford

We’re working with a major infrastructure contractor who are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Watford. This role will see you take responsibility for the design, management, and delivery of drainage and SuDS solutions across a range of urban development and infrastructure projects.

You’ll play a key part in mitigating flood risk, improving environmental quality, and driving forward sustainable solutions - all while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The role:

  • Lead the design and delivery of drainage and SuDS systems (attenuation ponds, swales, permeable pavements, green roofs)
  • Carry out hydraulic/hydrological modelling and prepare drainage strategies, reports, and specifications in line with DMRB, CIRIA, and SuDS Manual
  • Advise clients and project teams on compliance, sustainability, and best practice
  • Integrate SuDS with highways, landscaping, and utilities
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team

About you:

  • Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards) preferred
  • Proven experience delivering drainage and SuDS projects
  • Proficient with drainage modelling software (MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, ICM, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of UK legislation and design standards
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
