As Technical Manager, you will take the lead in managing and coordinating all aspects of the pre-development process. This includes overseeing architectural and engineering activities, driving efficient technical solutions, and supporting projects from land acquisition through to pre-construction.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring developments are fully prepared for a seamless transition to the build phase, while also providing ongoing technical support on-site. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, you’ll help deliver high-quality, commercially successful projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead by example in promoting a strong health and safety culture across all projects.
- Manage pre-development programmes to meet site start dates and business objectives.
- Drive value engineering to enhance efficiency and maximise project profitability.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, maintaining accurate risk registers and ensuring CDM compliance.
- Appoint, manage, and support consultants and external partners to deliver practical, cost-effective design solutions.
- Coordinate with utility providers to secure timely designs, approvals, and on-site delivery.
- Oversee the production and flow of technical information, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and timely delivery.
- Ensure design drawings and specifications are effectively communicated across the business.
- Develop and manage project programmes, milestones, and progress tracking for senior leadership reporting.
- Support pre-tender activities and ensure a smooth, well-prepared handover to the Commercial team.
- Coordinate pre-construction Health & Safety plans and temporary works designs in line with Principal Designer duties.
- Strong technical expertise across planning, architecture, civil engineering, and construction.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality, efficient design solutions.
- Experience in sustainable housing and modern development standards.
- Solid understanding of utilities, local authority requirements, and construction legislation.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects, including private and affordable housing.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
