Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Technical Lead to join our team and take a leading role in the delivery of flood risk and drainage projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer who enjoys technical leadership, client engagement, and project management. You will lead the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies, oversee detailed drainage design, and provide technical guidance to colleagues across a range of development projects. Working closely with clients, local authorities, architects, and planning consultants, you will help deliver successful planning applications and infrastructure designs from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) for a variety of development projects.
- Develop and coordinate surface water and foul drainage strategies to support planning applications.
- Design and promote Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) that deliver multiple benefits, including flood risk management, water quality improvement, biodiversity enhancement, and amenity value.
- Incorporate water quality treatment and amenity features into drainage designs wherever appropriate.
- Champion the use of natural and green SuDS solutions, including swales, detention basins, rain gardens, filter strips, permeable paving, and other nature-based approaches, where site constraints allow.
- Act as Technical Lead for detailed drainage and highway design projects.
- Undertake and review drainage modelling and hydraulic calculations.
- Manage technical project delivery, ensuring quality, programme, and budget targets are achieved.
You will be an experienced civil engineer with a strong background in flood risk and drainage design, together with the ability to manage projects and provide technical leadership.
Essential Requirements- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of flood risk policy, SuDS principles, and drainage design standards, including the delivery of multifunctional drainage systems.
- Experience in the design and implementation of green infrastructure and nature-based drainage solutions.
- Knowledge of current best practice guidance relating to water quality treatment, biodiversity net gain, and sustainable water management.
- Experience leading detailed drainage design projects for development schemes.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Salary £45,000 - £52,000
