An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fire safety professional to lead and develop a growing Fire Risk Management division within a rapidly expanding fire engineering and consultancy business. This role is ideally suited to an individual with a strong technical background in fire risk assessment and remediation, combined with proven leadership and commercial management experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the team, supporting business growth, developing client relationships, and maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence.
The position is primarily home-based, with occasional travel required to support clients, projects, team development and business growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Fire Risk Management team, providing technical guidance, mentoring and support
- Deliver and oversee complex fire risk assessments across a range of residential, commercial and mixed-use buildings
- Undertake and review Type 1, 2, 3 and 4 Fire Risk Assessments
- Evaluate compartmentation strategies and identify remediation requirements
- Develop and oversee fire stopping programmes and remediation projects
- Carry out external wall assessments and surveys where required
- Produce and implement fire risk management plans and compliance strategies
- Ensure technical quality, consistency and compliance across all project work
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and industry contacts
- Support business development activities and help grow workloads, client accounts and team capability
- Take responsibility for divisional financial performance, including Profit and Loss management, forecasting and resource planning
- Assist with recruitment, training and career development across the team
- Significant experience within fire risk management, fire safety consultancy or a related discipline
- Demonstrable experience leading complex fire risk assessment and remediation projects
- Strong understanding of compartmentation, fire stopping and passive fire protection
- Experience undertaking and reviewing Type 1-4 Fire Risk Assessments
- Experience carrying out external wall assessments and surveys
- Excellent knowledge of current UK fire safety legislation, guidance and industry standards
- Proven experience managing and developing technical teams
- Commercial awareness with previous Profit and Loss responsibility preferred
- Strong client-facing and business development skills
- Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing to a collaborative national team
- Level 4 Fire Safety qualification or equivalent
- Experience with EWS1 assessments
- Membership of a recognised professional body
- Experience within a consultancy environment
- £60,000 - £90,000 salary, potential for more for the right candidate
- 9-day working fortnight (after completion of probation)
