An established fire engineering consultancy is looking to recruit an Assistant Fire Engineer to support the delivery of fire engineering projects across residential, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and mixed-use developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional looking to develop their technical skills alongside experienced fire engineers, with structured training and clear progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of fire strategies and planning fire statements
- Review architectural drawings and identify fire safety considerations
- Support technical reviews of means of escape, compartmentation, fire doors and passive fire protection
- Contribute to technical reports, design reviews and feasibility studies
- Attend site visits with senior engineers and record findings
- Assist with fire risk assessments, compartmentation surveys and fire door inspections
- Research and apply relevant fire safety guidance, including Approved Document B and British Standards
Requirements
Essential
- Degree (or working towards) in Fire Engineering, Building Services, Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong interest in fire engineering and the built environment
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Excellent written communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Experience within fire safety, consultancy, building control or construction
- Knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or Bluebeam
- Full UK driving licence
