A growing, sustainability-led Building Services Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Oxford office. The consultancy delivers mechanical, electrical, sustainability, building physics and Passivhaus design services across a diverse range of projects including heritage, education, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, transport infrastructure, residential and public sector developments. With a collaborative team of over 60 professionals across multiple UK offices, the business is recognised for delivering efficient, sustainable building services solutions that prioritise both environmental performance and occupant wellbeing. You will work closely with colleagues across the wider business on technically challenging projects while benefiting from genuine opportunities for career progression.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical building services projects from feasibility through to completion. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will take responsibility for managing projects, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality mechanical designs across a wide variety of sectors. The role will include:

  • Leading the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects
  • Carrying out project surveys and feasibility studies
  • Producing mechanical designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports
  • Managing projects from concept through to handover
  • Undertaking site inspections and supervising mechanical services installations
  • Providing contract administration support throughout project delivery
  • Managing project programmes, workflows and key milestones
  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
  • Ensuring compliance with internal quality assurance procedures and industry standards
  • Working closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Assisting with fee proposals, project financial management and business development opportunities

The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have:
