My client are a Mechanical Contractor, based in Kent who have been in operation for over 50 years who employ over 100 employees. Their Project portfolio consists mainly of Commercial sites, which includes hospitals, prisons, aggregate sites. Project values will be anything from £5k – £2,000,000, but generally fall within the £5k – £35k bracket. The role will be split between their Offices in Kent and also some site visits for scoping. However they are open to a Hybrid role also. THE JOB – Mechanical Estimator Monday – Friday / 37.5 Hour Weeks Responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction projects. This role involves analysing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine the project’s cost and develop detailed estimates. Key Responsibilities Reviewing project plans, analysing plan drawings, schematics, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates. Calculating costs, determining the quantity and cost of materials, equipment, and labour required for the project. Preparing and submitting detailed estimates and bids for projects. Preparation and submission of PQQ and ITT documentation. Coordinating with engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements. Identifying potential financial or operational risks and providing strategies to mitigate them. Maintaining detailed records of all estimation documentation and updating them to reflect current conditions. Negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the best prices on materials and equipment. Staying updated with the latest techniques, materials, and costs in the industry to ensure the most accurate estimates. Essential Skills Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role (minimum 2 years) A strong understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles Excellent mathematical and analytical skills Proficient in using CRM software Relevant higher level qualification or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field Preferred Skills Experience or qualification in the use of CAD Experience of using SimPro SALARY & PACKAGE £43,000 – £45,000 Company Car (open to discuss) 25 Days Hols + 8 BH Pension – 5% Employee / 3 % Company Phone – or they will pay you an allowance of £10 a month for use of your own.
