My client is an Electrical Contractor who has been operating for over 13 years and has a turnover north of £8 million a year.
With 11 direct employed staff, they are seeking an Electrical Manager / QS to join the team.
Electrical Manager and QS Position – Full Time – Permanent
We are looking for an Electrical Manager who will also take on the role as the QS by successfully completing a NICEIC Assessment and joining our electrical division.
The role will report to the Directors and will be responsible for managing the site supervisors, field engineers, and sub-contractors on existing and new projects. You will also be responsible for all electrical aspects of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Be the main point of contact between the Project Manager and the site supervisors and field engineers.
- Oversee the financial performance and reporting of all projects.
- Coordinate and control works from the design stage through to completion and handover of the project to the client.
- Manage day-to-day operations on site, ensuring works are completed successfully and meet the required time frame.
- Effectively program and manage all works, including any variations or delays, and notify clients of such outcomes.
- Liaise with other management team members to ensure adequate labour and sub-contract resources are available on site.
- Plan and organize suitable labour to meet project requirements.
- Oversee all materials and deliveries to ensure they are timely and in line with the programme and project specifications.
- Manage and motivate site staff including supervisors, field engineers, and sub-contractors to ensure they are engaged and on target.
- Ensure workmanship and material standards are achieved in accordance with specifications, building regulations, health and safety legislation, and company policy and procedures.
- Ensure site team and sub-contractors follow company policy and procedures.
- Attend and, in some instances, plan and deliver weekly review meetings with clients and our supervisors and engineers.
- Create and maintain good relations with clients, staff, and subcontractors as well as other stakeholders.
- Oversee all RAMS, toolbox talks, and ensure that this information is recorded in the allocated folders.
- Oversee verification of inspection & test results, whether electronically or paper copies, in a timely manner to prevent commercial delays.
- Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making; build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues; be committed to delivering high-quality results.
- Overall management of all contracts from pre-start to completion and final O&M’s.
- Adhere to company policy and procedures including health & safety.
- Keep up to date with new regulations including BS7671, BS5839, BS5266.
- Be registered as the Qualifying Supervisor for the company’s electrical division and be available for annual assessments by the NICEIC.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition.
- Inspection and Testing 2391/2 or equivalent.
- Experience of fault finding and Test and Inspecting.
- Experience in maintenance, social housing, domestic and commercial sectors including fire alarms and emergency lighting.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Highly organized & self-motivated.
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Effective management and prioritization of workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Time served with a minimum of 7 years electrical experience.
- Minimum 3 years contract/project management experience or similar.
- Good commercial understanding.
- Strong H&S based knowledge.
- Driving license.
- Previous experience as the main NICEIC QS.
Package Available:
- £60,000.00 – £65,000.00 per annum, depending on experience.
- Personal Performance Bonus.

- Additional day after each year completed with the company (capped at 35 days total).
