We are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded electrical contractor that delivers a range of services across domestic, commercial, and public-sector sites. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Electrician to join their team.
About the role
This position involves a mix of testing, inspection, maintenance, and installation work, with a primary focus on EICRs and PAT testing within public buildings. You may also be asked to support a variety of other projects including refurbishments and electrical upgrades in schools, offices, retail spaces, residential blocks, and light industrial settings.
A company vehicle will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct EICRs, PAT testing, and complete the relevant certification
- Inspect, test, and ensure compliance with current wiring regulations (BS 7671)
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across a range of electrical systems
- Fault finding and rectification in both planned and reactive settings
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and colleagues in a professional manner
- Maintain clear and accurate records of time worked, materials used, and tasks completed
- Follow health and safety procedures and company policies on all jobs
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Systems or equivalent
- 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382-18) – essential
- Inspection & Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391, 2394, or 2395) – essential
- PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377) – desirable (or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence – essential
- ECS Gold Card or equivalent competency proof – preferred
- £38,000 – £43,000 per annum
- Company van (business use only), fuel card, laptop, and phone provided
- 30 minutes unpaid travel time each way per job
- Overtime opportunities available
- 20 days holiday + bank holidays, with 1 additional day per year of service

- Confident reading and working from technical diagrams and drawings
