Job Purpose: Contribute to and integrate with the Company’s objectives and other team members to ensure compliance with current standards and practices within the electrical industry. This will involve the ability to independently manage a Brighton and Hove Corporate contract, while overseeing installation works as carried out by the engineers and apprentices within this contract.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a contracts manager
  • NICIEC QS Experience (a requirement)
  • Project / Client Management
  • Operational Management
  • Management of day‑to‑day running of a local Brighton contract, including reactive, maintenance and remedial works.
  • Experience in electrical installation work between £50-£100k will be beneficial.
  • Lead contact for the running of projects and other associated works (i.e. commercial clients, local authority, and new business opportunities).
  • Preparing financial budgets and quotations for the Client.
  • Develop and plan work schedules to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Attend meetings and prepare reports for client meetings.
  • Update records using the company’s works IT management system.
  • Provide effective communication to clients and actively seek and develop future opportunities.

Line Management and Supervision of Staff:

  • Management of engineers / lead engineer site supervisors.
  • Provide mentoring, assistance, and create a supportive environment for your team of engineers.
  • Supervision of engineers and subcontractors assigned to works in your area of responsibility.
  • Conducting team meetings and demonstrating toolbox talks when required.
  • Undertaking annual staff appraisals and implementing actions thereafter.
  • Direct line management to the engineers assigned to your team.

Compliance / Technical:

  • Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures, assessments, statements, plans, conditions, and codes administered by the Directors.
  • Provide technical support to engineers, clients and other team members as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements when planning and undertaking works.
  • Meet the requirements of NICEIC QS status for the company and conduct associated duties after successful completion of the QS assessment (not required at the start of the role).
  • Full understanding of drawings, diagrams, and specifications to interpret, develop and adapt to a project during execution to achieve completion.

Health and Safety, Quality & Environmental:

  • Ensure compliance with all company regulatory H&S, quality processes, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Competent in demonstrating the appropriate use of PPE so that it is deployed and used correctly, ensuring compliance with regulations and that workers are competent in its use.
  • Undertake development and implementation of Health & Safety RAMS.
  • Conduct regular site visits and carry out H&S and quality audit reporting.
  • Conduct quarterly compliance checks for assigned team members.
  • Complete non‑conformance investigation reports when required.
  • Develop alongside the Quality Assurance Team the toolbox talk and CPD training material required to provide H&S training and compliance.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Order goods and services relevant to the works delegated to the section.
  • Approve decisions, requests, expenditure, and recommendations associated with assigned contracts/works, in agreement with the line management structure.
  • Produce schedules, negotiate costs and timescales, agree best methods and practices to meet budgetary constraints, ensuring quality and time expectations are adhered to.
  • Submit applications and invoices in a timely manner, in accordance with client instructions and with a high regard for accuracy.
  • Conduct job costings, quarterly WIP figures, and other financial analysis of works assigned in accordance with financial processes and timescales.

General:

  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate a proactive and positive mindset with a "hands on" approach; this may involve working on site from time to time.
  • Carry out and adapt to business needs as they evolve and at the request of the senior management and directors, as and when needed.
