A Brief Overview

This role within the business manages execution teams through to the completion of transactions and other new business initiatives within the EMEA division. The individual will engage with clients and internal partners to ensure that client objectives are addressed, value for RGA is optimized and RGA’s reputation in the market for execution excellence is upheld. Collaboration with subject matter experts and other transaction team members is critical.


What you will do

  • Manage project teams to structure and complete reinsurance, investment and acquisition transactions in EMEA.
  • Lead others to solve complex problems, exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions throughout the transaction process. Works independently to co-ordinate teams across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Co-ordinate complex transactions and develop communications in support of the project team, identify and document follow-up items and ensure completion.
  • Coordinate the processes of analyzing transactions through interaction with the various technical experts in pricing, risk analysis, structured finance, accounting, legal, investments, tax, etc. Anticipate, identify and resolve issues that arise during the RGA transaction analysis process to maximize the chance of a successful outcome.
  • Provide regular communication of the status of a transaction and key outstanding issues, deadlines, challenges, etc. to stakeholders and senior management. Coordinate all necessary approvals to complete a transaction and ensure communication channels are open internally and externally.
  • Respond to tenders and ad hoc client queries to facilitate the sales and negotiation process with new and existing clients, bankers, brokers and other market participants. This involves regular client contact and may involve periodic travel with business developers, as required.
  • Ensure operational effectiveness within the region, interpreting business challenges recommending and implementing best practices to improve processes.
  • Coordinate implementation of successful transactions and provide ongoing support as necessary.


Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in Business, Actuarial Science or related degree, or equivalent experience
  • Insurance, reinsurance or finance experience
  • Experience specializing in one or more of the following:
    • Financial reporting
    • Statutory & GAAP Accounting
    • Detailed insurance/reinsurance regulation & structure
    • Actuarial principles and/or modelling
    • Investment concepts
    • Capital management
  • Project management experience

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and motivational skills, demonstrating the ability to manage projects and mentor others
  • Technical and commercial knowledge of actuarial science, investments, contract law, accounting or finance.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. Curiosity and willingness to learn and pick up new things.
