A Brief Overview
Key role in developing and performing analysis to ‘tell the story’ across all product lines for EMEA’s European business which includes the UK and Continental Europe. This role will act as a key support to the Head of FP&A and Business Partnering and other EMEA Finance team members.
What you will do
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead and coordinate all necessary analysis for business across all product lines in the UK and Continental Europe, ensuring reporting meets standards and is consistent throughout the region. This will include:
- Production of quarterly and monthly (where required) financial analysis across all product lines and in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS 17.
- Preparation of quarterly reporting decks/presentations.
- Assist with any reporting to any local Exco’s.
- Other ad-hoc reporting/analysis including local regulatory, tax and statutory reporting requirements. This role is expected to be the key contact point for any local regulatory reporting.
- Recognized as a financial expert and key contact for financial queries across all product lines for the region; communicates effectively to stakeholders particularly when explaining difficult concepts or outcomes.
- Uses sound and practical analysis when problem solving or improving upon an existing solution; identifies multiple options and shows skill and expertise in recommending solutions.
- Coordinate annual Plan submission for Europe, across all product lines alongside Heads of Valuation for both UK and Continental Europe. This will include:
- Leading quarterly forecast submissions.
- Analysis to ensure plans are in line with guidance and strategy.
- Providing regular updates to the Head of FP&A & Business Partnering.
- Provide input to support updates and reporting for European strategy as required by either local management or EMEA CFO.
- Key contact for collaboration with EMEA Expense Management Team during annual Budget submission for Europe, including review of direct expenses, headcounts and IUC charges.
- Support to ensure reporting and analysis for local, regional and global expenses is accurate.
- Support to ensure key drivers of expense KPI (ETER) are understood.
- Business Partnering
- Develop strong working relationships with UK COS, Heads of Valuation, Head of Operations, Managing Directors and other key members of management and Excos as needed. Also required to liaise with Head of Financial Operations and Financial Controller on a regular basis.
- Acts as a key resource for colleagues who need input/expertise around the financial information impacting their area or function. Guides the use of that financial information to help manage committees (for example member of the Continental Europe In-force Management Committee) and other projects.
- Staff Development & Other
- Other tasks, duties and special projects as assigned by the Head of FP&A and Business Partnering and others as required.
- Development of staff and talent as directed by Head of FP&A and Business Partnering.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance.
Preferred
- Chartered Accountant qualification with prior audit experience preferably within a leading global audit firm is preferred.
- At least 5 years post articles/training experience within a similar team, preferably with life insurance experience or within finance function of a financial services company or accounting firm.
- Prior team management experience is useful.
- Proven reinsurance experience is a definitive advantage.
- Experience working with a multi-national company with a diverse geographic structure.
