About the Role

RG2 is looking for an experienced Agency Director to take day-to-day ownership of running the agency.

You'll be the central point of leadership for our team and our client work, overseeing employees and projects, running the press office, and making sure we're consistently delivering great work.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who wants real ownership without the founder-level financial and strategic remit.

You'll be trusted to run the agency day to day while reporting directly to the co-founders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have oversight of all employees and all live projects across the agency, acting as the go-to person for the team on client work and day-to-day questions.
  • Manage and run the press office, ensuring strong, consistent media coverage is being delivered across accounts.
  • Manage client relations, protecting relationships and agency reputation.
  • Keep eyes on every project's progress, making sure deadlines are being met and agreed strategies are being delivered.
  • Run and lead team meetings, keeping the wider team aligned, informed and accountable.
  • Track team and account performance against KPIs, proactively flagging and addressing any projects or people falling behind.
  • Manage, support and mentor the team, helping develop individuals' skills and supporting their day-to-day performance.
  • Support new business efforts, including pitch preparation, proposals and onboarding of new clients.
  • Oversee project management across the agency, ensuring efficient workflows, resourcing and prioritisation across accounts.
  • Drive overall efficiency of the agency, identifying and implementing improvements to how the team and processes operate.
  • Report directly to the co-founders on team performance, client health and agency operations.

About You

Experience

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within a PR/communications agency (Account Director, Client Services Director or equivalent), with a proven track record of running teams and accounts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a press office and delivering strong media results.
  • Experience supporting new business, including pitching and proposal writing.
  • Experience managing, developing and mentoring a team.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and hold a team accountable.
  • Excellent client management skills, including experience de-escalating and resolving difficult client situations.
  • Sharp project management skills, able to keep visibility across multiple accounts and projects at once.
  • Confident running meetings and communicating clearly with both team and senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with strong judgement on prioritisation and where to focus attention.
  • Comfortable operating with a broad, sometimes blurred remit, as is typical in a small agency environment.

What we're looking for in a person

  • A natural leader who takes ownership and wants genuine responsibility for running an agency.
  • Calm under pressure, with strong judgement on when to escalation to the co-founders versus resolve independently.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach - happy to be in the detail as well as leading from the front.
  • What RG2 Offers
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Pension.
  • Training and development.
  • Phone bill paid.
  • Genuine ownership and autonomy running a growing agency, working directly with the co-founders.
  • The opportunity to shape the agency's team, processes and client work at a senior level.
