About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader & Grounds Operative to join our grounds maintenance team. This is a hands-on role requiring leadership capability combined with technical skills in horticulture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a small team of grounds operatives ensuring high-quality service delivery.

  • Carry out a full range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties including mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, pruning, planting, and weed control.

  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers).

  • Apply pesticides and herbicides in accordance with PA1/PA6 certifications.

  • Conduct daily site checks and complete relevant documentation as required.

  • Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times on-site.

  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members where necessary.

  • Liaise professionally with clients and represent the company positively at all times.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence – essential (you will be required to drive company vehicles).

  • Relevant horticultural qualifications (Level 2 or above preferred).

  • PA1 & PA6 Spraying Certificates – essential.

  • Previous grounds maintenance or landscaping experience.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team with strong communication skills.

  • Good understanding of health & safety in grounds maintenance operations.

  • Flexible and reliable with a positive and proactive approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Experience in commercial grounds maintenance contracts.

  • Additional machinery qualifications (e.g., chainsaw, ride-on mowers) beneficial.
