An opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Pre-Construction team based at the Trafford Park (Manchester) Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, preparation and submission of tender bids in accordance with company processes and procedures, working closely with senior management and the wider pre-construction team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare tender submissions across a wide range of sectors and project values
- Develop appropriate estimating strategies aligned with project requirements and procurement routes
- Prepare cost plans, budgets and tender submissions for single-stage, two-stage, negotiated and competitive tenders
- Manage incoming tender documentation, including addendums, clarifications and instructions
- Collate tender enquiry documentation and issue to subcontractors and the wider supply chain
- Undertake detailed tender analysis and evaluation of subcontractor returns, ensuring compliance with scope, specification, pricing, preliminaries, attendances and terms & conditions
- Participate in subcontractor and supply chain selection through a robust tender evaluation process
- Ensure accurate quantification, measurement and cost checking procedures are followed
- Work collaboratively within the Pre-Construction team, coordinating with operational, planning, design management and commercial functions
- Maintain commercial and market awareness, including build cost rates per square foot for feasibility studies and appraisals
- Keep up to date with current construction methods, materials and industry best practice
- Provide continuous cost feedback to the Quantity Surveying team, including analysis of live cost data and actual project costs to support benchmarking and market analysis
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Estimator role within the construction industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience using estimating software such as Conquest, including On-Screen Take Off and Onsight
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proactive, self-motivated and well organised
- Ability to contribute creative and innovative ideas to bid strategies
- Full UK driving licence
