Our client is looking for a Building Surveyor to be based in Manchester. We are seeking a temporary Surveyor to support our Housing Services team, with a key focus on HHSRS assessments, damp and mould investigations, disrepair works and preparation for Awaabs Law requirements.
The successful candidate will undertake inspections, diagnose building defects, manage remedial works, oversee contractors and support compliance activities across our housing stock. Applicants should have surveying experience within housing, repairs, maintenance or asset management alongside strong knowledge of HHSRS, damp and mould management and relevant housing legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking property inspections, surveys and technical assessments.
- Identifying and managing HHSRS hazards, damp, mould and condensation issues.
- Specifying, managing and monitoring remedial works through to completion.
- Supporting the councils response to Awaabs Law and housing quality standards.
- Contributing to legal and technical reports where required.
- Overseeing contractor performance and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
- Responding to resident concerns and complaints, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
You will have:
- A construction-related qualification or significant relevant surveying experience.
- Experience in social housing, repairs and maintenance, property compliance or asset management.
- Strong knowledge of HHSRS, building pathology, damp and mould diagnosis, and housing legislation.
- Experience managing repairs, disrepair cases, planned works or major repairs.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- The ability to manage a varied workload and work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.
- A commitment to delivering positive outcomes for residents.
