Are you in search of a temporary yet fulfilling role? Look no further! We're thrilled to offer an exciting position for our client based in Bexley who are looking to appoint a Principal Solicitor (Litigation) for the 3 months ongoing, at the rate of £29 per hour umbrella.
Job responsibilities
- To provide legal and procedural advice and services in the most effective and efficient way to meet the requirements of the Services and Departments.
- Deliver high quality legal advice and services to the Services and Departments and their staff including, where appropriate, drafting documents and legal proceedings.
- Undertake litigation and advocacy in the courts, tribunals, statutory appeals and inquiries.
- Participate in project teams to ensure the achievement of the Council's objectives and the delivery of high quality legal advice and services to client Services, Departments and, where appropriate, contractors.
- Identify, research and anticipate the effects on service provision of new developments in the law to ensure that clients are able to adopt best practice in the delivery of timely and responsive services.
Job Activities
- Undertake the general work of a local government solicitor as directed from time to time.
- Carry a caseload of legal work, largely unsupervised, within the lawyer's specialism and to be responsible for completing all aspects of the task in accordance with good legal practice and Lexcel practice standards.
- Instruct Counsel when appropriate or advised and assist Counsel in the presentation of cases to the Court when necessary.
- Undertake a range of specific tasks as directed by the Principal Solicitor (Litigation) and other senior lawyers under appropriate supervision.
- Compile and report statistical information.
- Actively contribute towards the continual improvement of the service and make effective use of case management systems.
- Undertake advocacy on behalf of the organisation in such courts, tribunals or inquiries as may be directed.
