About the Role
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Engineer to join a leading data centre operator, taking day‑to‑day ownership of the Technical Operations Site Team across a live, mission‑critical facility.
You will be the main point of contact for all site engineering activity, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is delivered to SLA, incidents are managed effectively, and the facility runs safely with minimal risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the on‑site Operations Team and associated vendors, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient facility operation
- Oversee adherence to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and permit‑to‑work systems across all site works
- Lead response to building services infrastructure issues, engaging third‑party specialists where required
- Manage incident reporting and coordination via CMMS systems
- Act as an HV Authorised Person across safe isolations and permit issuing (full training provided if not already held)
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance on critical building services infrastructure
- Monitor SLA/KPI compliance and liaise directly with client representatives
- Supervise and induct specialist service contractors, approving minor works
- Support Data Centre and Site Management teams, including cover for holiday/sickness absence
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in mission‑critical mechanical and electrical environments
- Data centre experience essential, or a directly comparable critical environment
- Working knowledge of key DC infrastructure – UPS, generators, cooling systems, BMS
- Recognised formal electrical training (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Experience operating critical building infrastructure across electrical, mechanical, and building fabric
- ITIL and/or Service Now experience desirable but not essential
- Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to varied audiences including clients
- Sound decision‑making under pressure, with the ability to assess and manage risk
- Self‑driven, organised, and adaptable to changing site priorities
