We're seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join a large, high-profile hospital site in Central London on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineering professional looking to lead a team within a critical healthcare environment while overseeing essential mechanical building services and plant infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring, and managing the on-site engineering team
- Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works
- Fault finding, diagnosing, and repairing heating, cooling, and mechanical plant systems
- Monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure including HVAC, steam, and BMS systems
- Coordinating contractors and liaising with hospital stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and hospital regulations
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation, and reports
- Supporting team development, training, and operational best practices
Qualifications
- Mechanically apprenticeship trained or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience within a mechanical engineering or facilities maintenance role
- Background working within hospitals, healthcare, or critical environments
- Strong knowledge of heating, cooling, and mechanical plant systems
- Experience with steam systems and/or BMS systems is advantageous
- Previous experience leading or supervising engineering teams
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-compliance environment
