Resourcing Group is currently working with a social housing contractor seeking an experienced FRA Carpenter on remedials.
Ideal candidate based: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Salary: £23 per hour
Contract Type: Temp. Ongoing contract with view to permanent position.
Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance of Fire Doors – Install and maintain fire doors according to fire safety regulations (e.g., BS 476, BS 9999). Ensure correct installation of fire-rated door hardware (locks, hinges, closers). Apply intumescent strips and fire seals to doors and frames.
- Remedial and Upgrade Work – Retrofit and upgrade existing fire doors to meet current fire resistance standards. Carry out repairs on damaged or non-compliant fire doors.
- Fireproofing Installation – Apply fireproofing materials and coatings to timber doors and door frames. Install and maintain fire-resistant seals.
- Compliance and Testing – Ensure all fire doors are properly certified and compliant with industry standards. Conduct tests and inspections to verify the integrity and functionality of fire doors.
- Documentation and Reporting – Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance work. Report any non-compliance or issues to site managers or safety officers.
- Collaboration with Other Contractors – Work alongside fire safety engineers, electricians, and other trades to ensure compliance with fire safety codes. Offer technical advice regarding fire safety measures and solutions.
Qualifications
- Qualified to a minimum NVQ level 2 Carpentry and Joinery
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience on fire door remedials
- Possession of a full current UK Driving licence
