Due to continued business growth, we are looking for a skilled Technical Estimator to join our expanding estimating department. This is a practical, field-based role that involves gathering asset data, carrying out technical assessments, and producing precise and cost-effective quotations for building services. Working closely with the Commercial Solutions Director and the estimating team, you\'ll play a key part in developing accurate pricing strategies for HVAC and MEP projects and contracts. The role combines both office and site work, including asset tagging and verification across sites throughout the UK. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Examine and interpret tender documents, drawings, and project specifications to fully understand the scope of work for both planned maintenance and project-based services. Build detailed cost models for mechanical and electrical services, tailoring submissions to different client requirements and tender formats. Attend site visits to support new bids, carrying out asset surveys, identifying access issues and risks, and estimating time and cost implications, including for asset tagging activities. Work alongside the Commercial Solutions Director to keep an up-to-date database of pricing information, benchmark data, and historical costs to support future estimates. Collaborate with commercial, bid, and operational teams to validate pricing methods and ensure consistency in tender returns. Analyse asset data, PPM schedules, and client specifications to inform accurate estimates in line with SFG20 and manufacturer guidance. Support lifecycle costing and contribute to risk assessments as part of the estimating process. Obtain and evaluate subcontractor quotations in partnership with procurement teams. Support bid and transition teams to ensure seamless contract mobilisation by providing accurate cost and asset tagging data. Carry out asset validation, tagging, and condition surveys on site for various building services (e.g., HVAC systems, pumps, electrical infrastructure). Use QR tagging to register assets and help develop PPM schedules for mobilisation. Accurately document technical information through mobile tools or spreadsheets, ensuring it is reflected correctly within CAFM systems such as Job Logic. Stay up to date with SFG20 standards and ensure all asset information is correctly stored and maintained within company systems. Participate in pricing reviews, commercial discussions, and governance meetings as required, including occasional client meetings. Produce technical quotations based on surveyed information, contractor inputs, and defined scopes of work. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC or building services. Proven experience in asset validation and tagging. Commercially astute, with good understanding of profit and loss principles including margins, mark-ups, and multipliers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret client needs and translate them into practical solutions. Organised and detail-focused, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong analytical abilities and Excel proficiency.
