You will act as the main operational point of contact for assigned clients and play a key role throughout the full contract life cycle.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will manage multiple contract sites, lead operational teams, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and contractual requirements. The role includes practical involvement where required, particularly on specialist landscaping works, and the opportunity to deputise for the Operations Manager to support service continuity. Flexibility is essential due to operational and seasonal demands, including occasional early starts, late finishes, and weekend working in line with Working Time Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Management
    • Line manage operational teams, planning daily workloads and monitoring attendance and timekeeping
    • Lead teams to deliver works safely and to the required quality standard
    • Carry out staff inductions and support on-site training and development
    • Lead pre-start meetings, site meetings, reviews, and handovers
    • Ensure work instructions and site information are clear and accurate
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Carry out and record health & safety audits (site, vehicle, tools, spraying)
    • Oversee vehicle, machinery, and equipment checks, arranging servicing and repairs
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, risk assessments, and legal requirements
  • Contract Management
    • Manage multiple contracts across the South West and surrounding areas
    • Plan, schedule, and record works using company systems and mobile applications
    • Act as the main operational contact for clients and attend site meetings
    • Manage variations and additional works in line with company procedures
    • Monitor performance against KPIs, carrying out site audits and reporting outcomes
    • Manage and monitor subcontractor performance, compliance, and conduct
  • Small Works & Operational Support
    • Lead or support specialist and non-routine works within scope of competence and certification
    • Deputise for the Operations Manager when required
    • Accurately use IT systems and maintain clear records, including reactive works
    • Manage a small operational budget for materials and equipment
    • Attend internal and client meetings as required

Essential Requirements

Due to health, safety, legal, and site access requirements, applicants must have:

  • PA1 and PA6 certification (safe application of pesticides)
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence
