We're looking for an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to join a growing Facilities Management team based at a modern university campus in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to join a contract at the beginning of its growth journey. Initially, you'll be the sole engineer on site, taking ownership of all HVAC maintenance while managing specialist subcontractors when required. With the contract recently expanding across the wider estate, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into a Supervisory position within the next 18 months as the team continues to grow.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in delivering a high-quality service, and is looking for long-term career progression within a leading Facilities Management business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a variety of HVAC and air conditioning systems
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Servicing and maintaining split systems, VRV/VRF systems, AHUs, FCUs and associated plant
  • Managing and coordinating specialist subcontractors on site
  • Completing maintenance records and compliance documentation using the CAFM system
  • Carrying out routine plant inspections and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Building strong working relationships with site staff and occupants
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and statutory compliance requirements
  • Supporting minor mechanical maintenance tasks where required

What we're looking for:

  • Essential:
    • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (or equivalent)
    • F-Gas Category 1 Certification
    • Experience maintaining air conditioning and HVAC systems within commercial buildings
    • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
    • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working within education, commercial or large-scale FM environments
    • Knowledge of CAFM systems
    • IPAF and PASMA certifications
    • Basic electrical knowledge
