We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a prestigious Life Sciences contract in Darlington. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly regulated, technically advanced environment, maintaining critical infrastructure that supports cutting-edge scientific and research activities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical and building services systems
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical plant and associated equipment
- Fault finding and ensuring the efficient operation of critical infrastructure
- Managing maintenance tasks through the CAFM system and maintaining accurate records
- Supporting statutory compliance and health & safety requirements
- Supervising specialist subcontractors when required
- Assisting with quotations, remedial works and minor projects
- Supporting contractual KPIs and service delivery standards
- Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
What we’re looking for:
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Experience within Facilities Management, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Data Centres or other critical environments
- Strong knowledge of mechanical plant and building services systems
- Proven experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Desirable:
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Experience with CAFM systems
- Knowledge of BMS systems
- Experience with HVAC, water treatment, generators, UPS systems and associated infrastructure
