An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative low-carbon and decarbonisation projects across the UK. Working on projects including heat pump installations, energy centres, plantroom upgrades and net-zero retrofit programmes, you will play a key role in designing and developing sustainable mechanical building services solutions from concept through to commissioning. This position would suit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects that contribute to the UK's decarbonisation agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Produce feasibility studies and concept designs.
  • Develop detailed mechanical building services designs.
  • Carry out system sizing, equipment selection and technical calculations.
  • Design heating, ventilation and domestic water systems.
  • Support heat pump and low-carbon energy projects.
  • Develop plantroom and energy centre layouts.
  • Produce technical specifications and works information.
  • Support project delivery from concept through commissioning.
  • Attend client meetings, design reviews and technical workshops.
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven mechanical design experience within building services, M&E or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation and domestic water systems.
  • Experience with heat pumps and decarbonisation projects.
  • Understanding of plantroom and energy centre design.
  • Knowledge of pumps, PHEs, valves, pressurisation units and associated equipment.
  • Experience producing technical calculations and specifications.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Eligible for Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years continuous UK residency.
