We are recruiting on behalf of our client for 2 Caretakers to join the facilities team at Newbury College. The role involves basic litter picking, general site upkeep, and light DIY/maintenance tasks to help keep the campus safe and well-presented.
Pay Rates:
£12.81 per hour (basic)
£14.35 per hour (with holiday pay included)
Overtime:
Saturday – Time and a Half
Sunday – Double Time
Shifts (Full-Time):
Morning: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Afternoon: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
(Monday to Friday, 8 hours 40 minutes per day)
Typical Duties:
Litter picking and general grounds tidiness
Setting up classrooms/meeting spaces (moving furniture/equipment)
Changing light bulbs and basic electrical checks (non-technical)
Minor plumbing tasks (e.g. unblocking sinks/toilets)
Painting touch-ups and small repairs
Reporting larger maintenance issues to the site manager
Locking/unlocking buildings and basic security checks
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS check (candidates may start while this is being processed)
Basic DIY/maintenance skills (training and support provided on site)
Good communication skills – ability to work with staff, students, and contractors
Reliable, punctual, and proactive
